Here is the BBC movie for the beginning of propaganda in America. Although is pretty old and probably most of you have already seen it, this story had a significant impact on me as a child and been a reason for my further professional choice.

It’s about the life of Edward Bernays (a.k.a The father of Spin) and the unique and original methods he developed during his career. As a nephew of Sigmund Freud, Bernays was the first one who linked the business to unconscious desires of the crowd. This set of techniques is known to the PR industry as “Engineering of Consent” and it is based on the idea that every human behavior is driven by primitive and sexual instincts. If we understand the mechanisms and motives of the group mind, it is now possible to control and regiment the masses according to our will without their knowing it says he in his first book Propaganda.
